The European Commission’s Environment Directorate-General has issued a new brochure titled “Green Public Procurement: A collection of good practices”, illustrating how European local authorities successfully launched green tenders and providing guidance to those wishing to do the same.
We are proud that two of the twelve examples provided comes from Green Digital Charter signatories: Barcelona and Stockholm.
Stockholm in particular presents its strategy for an environmentally friendly office IT equipment, confirming the city commitment of reducing the environmental impact of ICT undertook signing the Charter.
In 2010, Stockholm County Council introduced stringent new environmental requirements for purchasing computers. The new stipulations include low energy consumption, the use of recycled plastic in new products and eliminating lead, mercury and halogenated flame retardants from new computers.
