Linkoping tests the ICT carbon footprint tool developed by NiCE project

On Thursday 23 April, NiCE project organised the third “reference cities group” meeting in Manchester, UK to demonstrate the draft version of the Green Digital Charter reporting tools and ask for the cities’ feedback.

Fredrik Eriksson from Linkoping presented how he has used the draft ICT carbon footprint tool to assess the direct CO₂ emissions from the ICT equipment of the city administration. The main outcome was that, during the last 5 years, even though the city has almost doubled the count of electronic devices that it uses, it has managed to half the respective direct CO₂ emissions it produces.

The public version of the Green Digital Charter toolkit will be released by the end of June 2013 and will be accompanied by instructions on how to use and efficiently report your city’s outcomes and savings.
