The ICT carbon footprint is the amount of carbon generated by the information and communication technology (ICT) sector.

With a broader picture, ICTs account for 8-10% of the European electricity consumption and up to 4% of its carbon emissions. yet, with a wide energy and environmental strategy, up to 15% of global emissions could be saved by 2020, especially in sectors like transport, energy, industry and buildings.
